Care and Maintenance Guidelines

 

Plantation Shutters require relatively little care and maintenance to ensure trouble-free operations. Shutters installed indoors and inland will require less cleaning than shutters installed outdoors and close to the sea.

 

The following table explains these differences and the minimum requirements to ensure that the Guarantee is upheld.

Cleaning Method 1

 
Step 1:   Remove all surface dust and dirt from the shutters with a feather duster, dust cloth or vacuum cleaner.
Step 2:   Wipe the shutters with a slightly damp cloth to remove any stubborn marks.
Step 3:   If required, dry the shutters with a soft cotton cloth or chamois.
Step 4:   Remove all the dust and dirt from the bottom track using a vacuum cleaner or brush.

Cleaning Method 2

Same as Cleaning Method 1, plus:

 
•  Use a Premium Quality (salt free) car wash liquid, mixed with water (as per the product's instructions) and soft cotton cloth to clean the shutters.
•  A soft nylon bristle brush (eg a dishwashing brush) can be used to reach “hard to reach” areas.
•  We are trying to remove the build-up of Salt with this Cleaning Method.

Cleaning Method 3

Same as Cleaning Method 1, plus:

 
•  Rinse Shutters with running water on both sides.
•  Rinse the inside of each side channel with running water.
•  Use a premium quality (salt free) car wash liquid, mixed with water (as per the product’s instructions) and soft cotton cloth to clean the shutters.
•  A soft nylon bristle brush (eg a dishwashing brush) can be used to reach “hard to reach” areas.
•  We are trying to remove the build-up of Salt and/or Grime with this Cleaning Method.
